EVENTS
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
SKILLS WORKSHOPS
SIG skills workshops are dedicated towards honing technical skills expected of pre-surgical medical students early on. SIG workshops will cover everything from sterile technique to wound suturing to help CUSM medical students gain the practice and confidence necessary to take on an active role during surgical clerkship.
ANATOMY-SURGERY SESSIONS
Anatomy-Surgery Sessions are faculty-led and designed to support knowledge of anatomy that is geared towards surgical procedures and practice. Sessions are focused on detailed knowledge of anatomy, including common clinical presentations, and topics relevant to surgery.
PHYSICIAN MEETINGS
SIG offers its members unique opportunities to network with surgeons throughout their pre-clinical years, including physician roundtables with a variety of specialties, allowing students to learn and develop their professional interests. Physician meetings are typically coordinated with topics covered during anatomy learning sessions. If interested in becoming a presenter, please contact SIGEX via the SIG website.
DIAGNOSTICS ROUNDTABLE
The Surgery Interest Group Diagnostics Roundtable aims to develop students’ critical thinking, reasoning, and teamwork skills through discussion of surgical cases under the supervision of a surgeon. Each diagnostics roundtable is designed so that students can reason their way through a differential diagnosis and propose subsequent treatment plan for the patient.
